Otumfuo commended for his role in education

Jacobu (Ash), April 7, GNA - Nana Fosu Kwadwe Abiri II, the Chief of Jacobu in the Amansie Central in Ashanti region, has commended Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene for his role in the country's educational development. The chief, who is a retired educationist, was addressing an inter-district Senior High Schools Zonal Quiz competition held at Jacobu last Friday as part of activities marking the 10th Anniversary celebration of the enthronement of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene. He urged other chiefs to emulate Otunfuo's example and also advised the youth to take advantage of the various educational programmes in the country to acquire the necessary qualifications to enable them gain employment after school.

Nana Abiri II also praised the Ashanti Regional Education Directorate, the Amansie Central District education office and the planning committee of the Otumfuo 10th Anniversary celebration for the competition and called for periodic organisation of the competition to improve student's knowledge.

Fomena Senior High School became first in the competition with Jacobu Senior High School emerging second. Christ the King Senior High School, Oppong Memorial High School and Mansoman Senior High School took the third, fourth and fifth positions respectively. Esaase Bontefutuo Senior High School took the first position for the inter-school debate held under the topic: "Leaders are born but not made".

The first and second runners-up went to Bodwesango Senior High School, and Christ the King. The fourth place went to Oppong Memorial and the fifth position to Jacobu Senior High School. The participating schools were each given various sums of monies and calendars.
