Otumfuo urged to expedite action on disputed land

Kumasi, Dec 15, GNA - Nana Kwame Amo, the Abusaupanin (Head of Family) of Kokoben, has appealed to Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, the Asantehene, to impress upon the committee mandated by the Kumasi Traditional Council to look into the disputed Kokoben lands to take action against those flouting the committee's order. He said despite the injunction placed on the sale and development of the land by the committee the Ankobeahene continues to sell land to developers.

In a statement in Kumasi on Monday, Nana Amo said whereas members of the committee had not passed judgement, some people were developing the land and appealed to the Asantehene to intervene to ensure that justice was done. The Kumasi Traditional Council placed an injunction on the sale and development of the Kokoben land in July. The land has been the centre of a long-running dispute and has become major flash point for communal clashes. The Ankobea and Kokoben stools are both claiming ownership to the land.
