Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Cathedral holds mass wedding

A total of 16 couples had their marriages blessed at the Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Cathedral in Takoradi with a call on them to protect their marriages as an important vocation instituted by God.

The wedding, which formed part of activities to mark the golden jubilee of the Cathedral was also to encourage couples, especially those who could not afford expensive weddings to have their marriages blessed.

The exercise was patronised by members of the church, particularly those who cohabited long with some as long as 39 years.

In his homily, Archbishop John Bonaventure Kwofie, Archbishop of Accra said blessing of marriage was important to the church as it allowed couples to receive Holy Communion, which he noted was important for the church.

He commended the couples for taking the bold decision to have their marriages blessed in church stating that the church only needed pure heart and peaceful marriages.

Archbishop Kwofie who is also the Apostolic Administrator of the Sekondi-Takoradi diocese advised the couple to endeavour to manage their resources well.

The couples who comprised of traders, teachers, among others, aged between 40 and 70 years.
