Over 100 Senior High School leavers in the Northern region have taken part in the ongoing 3rd edition of the Mathlets scholarship competition/examination organized by eSyllabus for Africa, a non-governmental Organization (NGO).
The competition/examination is a text based scholarship selection process based on a test examination in elective mathematics and calculus.
The students from various Senior High Schools across the Northern Region took part in two-fold examinations thus general mathematics and Calculus.
Prospective candidates who sail through the competition/examination successfully will be awarded university scholarship package of 800 dollar bursary for any course in any of the public universities in Ghana.
eSyllabus for Africa provides educational resources and interventions in Ghana and Africa as a whole, through the provision of scholarships and the distribution of digital educational materials to aid teaching and learning from the basic level through Senior High to the tertiary level of education.
eSyllabus for Africa has demonstrated the value of elearning programs in Ghana and is now the leading elearning NGO in Africa with regards to the numbers of the students involved in their programs such as High school level scholarships in Ghana based upon standardized exam results, University level scholarships in Ghana for nationals of Ghana and other African nations, Extra-curricular programs in African Junior and Senior High Schools including tutoring and computer labs and Digital Library Program available throughout Africa.
The Northern-Ghana Director of eSyllabus for Africa, Crispin Wura-Sey Zeikah said the organization is looking forward to maintaining its commitment of serving the educational needs of Africans in the years to come.
According to Crispin Zeikah, to ensure that brilliant students who complete Senior High School education but could not continue their education to the Universities, because of financial challenges, the organization decided to take that trajectory by awarding scholarship to students who have just completed their West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination.
He stated that special emphasis has been place on ladies who wants to pursue medicine. The Northern Ghana Director for eSyllabus for Africa said the organization want to use its scholarship programmes as a form of motivation to woo more ladies into pursuing medicine due to the phobia most ladies develop towards science-based courses.
More than 50 students ranking from Junior High School to the university level have since gain scholarships to pursue various programmes in in the public universities across Ghana.
The organization seeks support Senior High School leavers to be able to better their lives and communities in the future.
