Panfokrom Women Training Institute celebrates 49th graduation

Gomoa Panfokrom (C/R), July 15, GNA - The authorities of the Gomoa Panfokrom Women Training Institute have been using proceeds from their school farm and monies generated from sewing and catering services to improve facilities at the school for the past ten years. From the meager resources, they have been able to procure some tables for the classrooms, bought entertainment gadgets including systems, microphones, amplifiers and video deck.

The headmistress of the Institute, Mrs. Rebecca Ampa-Korsah, who spoke Ghana News Agency during the institute 49th Graduation, Speech and Prize-Giving Day at Gomoa Panfokrom said the salary of nine part time workers were paid from the proceeds.

According to her, the PTA of the institute has refurbished the computer laboratory at the cost of about 24 million cedis, constructed the City and Guilds demonstration kitchen at the cost of nearly 30 million and others.

She said, both the school and the PTA has done much to the school but the problems presently facing the school were beyond their reach and therefore, appealed to the government, NGOs and other stakeholders in education to come to their aid.

Mrs. Ampa-Korsah said the institute was planning to celebrate its Golden Jubilee in the next few years and therefore rehabilitation of the structures would be in its interest.

The headmistress said, the institute being the only one responsible for the training of women in the Central Region was located in the secluded environment and has no reliable means of transports and said, "It is only by the Grace of God that we continue to exist in this condition". 15 July 05
