Parade Jubilee - Elmina

Elmina, March 7, GNA - A parade of 1,152 students and pupils as well as cadet corps of second cycle schools took place on Tuesday at Elmina to mark the 50th anniversary of Ghana's independence. By 0800 hours people filled the park, where the parade took place, to capacity from all walks of life, dressed beautifully in the anniversary paraphernalia.
In the march past 36 schools competed for positions in the primary, junior secondary school and senior secondary school categories. The Catholic Girls' Primary, the Catholic Boys' Primary and the Peter Holdebrook-Smith Primary, all in Elmina, took the first, second and third positions in the primary sector. The Elmina Apostolic JSS, Elmina Catholic Girls JSS and St Monica's JSS in Elmina were also first, second and third respectively in the JSS category.
In the SSS category, Eguafo-Abrem Senior Secondary School came first with Edinaman and Peter Holdebrook-Smith Senior Secondary schools taking the second and the third positions respectively. Mr George Frank Asmah, the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) District Chief Executive, read the President's anniversary speech.
