The Paramount Chief of the Buem Traditional Council in the Oti Region, Nana Badju-Banor Aburam Akpanja, has made a significant donation to the Bodada Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound.

This gesture, valued at GH¢50,000, is aimed at improving healthcare delivery in the Bodada community and surrounding areas.

In a brief ceremony at the health center, the chief presented essential medical supplies, including medical equipment, gloves, personal protective equipment (PPE), toilet rolls, and buckets of paint. These items will enhance both the operational and physical conditions of the facility. Nana Badju-Banor Aburam Akpanja’s contribution underscores his commitment to improving the well-being of his people.

This donation follows his earlier initiative, where he led a community clean-up exercise aimed at promoting environmental hygiene.

Speaking during the presentation, the Paramount Chief emphasized the importance of accessible healthcare for all, stating that a healthy community is essential for sustainable development. He encouraged others to support healthcare services in the region.

Madam Lydia Annan, a registered nurse at the CHPS Compound, received the items on behalf of the center. She expressed her gratitude, noting that the donations would significantly enhance their ability to provide quality healthcare to the residents.

In addition to his healthcare initiatives, Nana Badju-Banor Aburam Akpanja recently led a large-scale community clean-up exercise in Bodada, within the Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region.

The event saw hundreds of residents, including traditional leaders, youth groups, and school children, participate in cleaning streets, markets, and waterways.

The chief highlighted that poor sanitation contributes to diseases such as cholera, malaria, and typhoid, and the clean-up was organized to address these health risks.

“It is important that we maintain a clean environment is a collective responsibility and should be part of everyday community life,” he noted.

Residents expressed their appreciation for the initiative and hope that similar exercises will be held regularly to promote hygiene and prevent the spread of diseases in the Buem traditional area.

The clean-up initiative, coupled with his healthcare donations, demonstrates the Paramount Chief’s comprehensive approach to community development and well-being.
