Ho, May 18, GNA - Togbe Kwadwo Dei XI, Paramount Chief and the elders of Peki Traditional Area, have called on President John Evans Atta Mills to give Mrs. Perpetual Annan another chance to become the District Chief Executive for South-Dayi.
A letter to the President dated 13 May 2009 and signed by Deshiefia of Peki, in behalf of Togbe Kwadwo Dei XI Deiga of Peki, said "The paramountcy and chiefs and elders wish you to bring back Mrs Perpetual Annan as the DCE for the South-Dayi District as they have nothing against her".
It was copied to the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Volta Regional Minister, Edem Asimah, Member of Parliament (MP) for South Dayi constituency and Regional Chairman of NDC. The letter revealed that a move by interested parties in Peki to get some one else to become the DCE instead of Mrs Annan and said no such person would be accepted by the paramountcy. It said "in event of His Excellency deciding to choose someone else, the Paramount Chief and his elders would humbly plead to get us involved in the process. The fact remains that, whosoever that would be appointed to this post, will be working with the Paramount Chief and his elders", the letter said.
It said that following a request by Mr Asimah the MP, Togbe Kwadwo Dei constituted a committee to resolve differences between him (MP) and Mrs Annan.
The letter said a meeting of all interested parties was convened on 26 April 2009 and that, "before the meeting was closed, Edem Asimah assured the meeting that he has forgiven Mrs Perpetual Annan for all that she has done to precipitate the misunderstanding between them". It said when on the 27 April the paramountcy and elders and chiefs were informed that the assembly had rejected the President's nominee out-right, they were greatly disappointed and embarrassed.
