Peace walker advises chiefs to avoid partisan politics

Nalerigu (N/R), May 26, GNA- A peace walker, Mr Isaac Annan, has called on traditional rulers not to allow themselves to be dragged into partisan politics.

He told them: "As traditional rulers who are the custodians of the cultural values of your people, you should see all political parties and their leaders as part of your people and accord them equal attention without declaring your support for a particular party".

Mr Annan who has embarked on "Election 2004 peace walk", made the call when he paid a courtesy call on the Nayiri, Naa Bohugu Mahami Abudulai, Paramount Chief of Mamprugu Traditional Area, when he arrived at Nalerigu on Tuesday from Accra.

The peace walker urged the electorate to ensure that the 2004 general elections were conducted devoid of violence, saying: "No country can progress without peace and stability".

He has since visited nine districts in the Northern Region.
