Nkoranza (B/A), Nov. 29, GNA - Mr Dixon Kudom, Chairman of the Nkoranza District branch of the Ghana Government Pensioners Association has advised members to prepare their life certificates at the end of every quarter to enable them to continue to enjoy their benefits. Mr Kudom was addressing the annual general meeting of the Association at Nkoranza.
He said the life certificates served as records on all living pensioners and enabled the national executives of the Association to know their number.
The chairman urged members to attend meetings regularly to become abreast with the Association's activities. Mr Kudom said the district branch of the Association had petitioned the National Headquarters for support towards the completion of an office accommodation.
Mr Isaac Kwame Effah, Secretary, disclosed that 30 million cedis had been spent on the project, which was funded through members' monthly contributions.
He said about 130 pensioners in the district had registered with the Association but expressed regret that only about 90 were active in the payment of their monthly dues. The Secretary called on other pensioners who had not registered with the Association to do so to enhance their welfare. Meanwhile, members have resolved to make monthly contributions of 10,000 cedis each instead of 5,000 cedis.
