The Pentecost University College (PUC) on Sunday held its 10th anniversary thanksgiving service in Accra, on the theme: “Celebrating the Goodness and Mercies of God”.
The service was held to offer praise and thanks to God Almighty for how far He had brought the University.
The month-long anniversary celebration would be climaxed in December with activities including a public lecture two, fundraising dinner, alumni homecoming/ musical concert and graduation ceremony on the theme: “A Decade of Excellence”.
Speaking at the ceremony, Apostle Dr Opoku Onyinah, Chancellor of PUC, said the University was grateful to God for granting 10 years to an institution aiming at academic excellence.
“We want to thank God for the people who took the decision to establish the University College,” he said.
He recounted that the then Upgrading Committee led by Reverend Dr Peter Ohene Kyei were tasked to upgrade the Pentecost Bible College into a university status, saying even though there were challenges along the line, God has been merciful throughout the journey and there was a need to celebrate the anniversary.
The Chancellor, who doubles as the Chairman of the Church Pentecost, Ghana, said education plays a critical role in the socio-economic development of a nation.
He said the University aims to impact on the lives of students both spiritually and academically to enable them acquire the needed skills to transform society.
As part of the anniversary service, Apostle S. Y Antwi, General Secretary of Ghana Pentecostal Council, and Apostle Daniel Walker, the Dean of Students, led the congregation to pray for Ghana and Africa, and for International Students, respectively.
Apostle Asante Ayeh, Pentecost Men’s Ministry Director, Rev Peter Ohene- Kyei, Rector of PUC, Elder Gibson Annor-Antwi, Registrar of PUC, were also among dignitaries who graced the occasion.
