Peugeot drivers elect new officers

Takoradi, July 5, GNA- Mr Sackey Aidoo was on Monday elected the Takoradi branch Chairman of the Peugeot Express Station of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) at Takoradi.

He polled 28 votes to beat Mr Ekow Fosu who had 14. The election coincided with the branch's second delegates' conference and was attended by 40 delegates, GPRTU officials and regional executives.

Mr William Graham took the Vice Chairman's position with 25 votes as against 17 votes by Mr Emmanuel Boahene. Mr Tony Taylor had 30 votes to capture the Secretary's seat, while Mr Joe Dadzie and Alhaji Latif Oatunji took the first and second trustees positions respectively.

Mr Kinsley Ansah, the Western regional Vice Chairman commended the new officers and asked them sustain the spirit. He said unity is a prerequisite for growth and development of any union or organisation.

Mr Aidoo, the Chairman-elect said series of training programmes, especially on road signs and safety, would be a priority of the new executives.

He said the training was meant to reduce the increasing rate of road accidents in the country.
