Philanthropist donates towards Ejura Police barracks rehabilitation

Ejura (Ash), Feb. 22, GNA - A philanthropist, Mr. Nelson Safo has donated 78 pieces of wooden window and door frames valued at 14 million cedis for the rehabilitation of the Ejura-Sekye-Dumase Police barracks. Presenting the items at Ejura on Tuesday, Mr. Safo said the donation was in response to an appeal by the District Police Command in November last year for assistance to rehabilitate their barracks. He commended the servicemen for continuing to maintain law and order in the district in spite of inadequate accommodation and the deplorable state of the barracks.

Mr. Safo, who is a government appointee of the Sekye-Dumase District Assembly called on other philanthropists to aid the Police and said gone were the days when it was the sole responsibility of the state to provide the needs of state agencies.

He stressed the need for local communities to show keen interest in the welfare of these institutions and pledged to continue supporting the Police in the District in the discharge of their duties.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Stephen Kwakye, District Police Commander, expressed appreciation to citizens of the area for assisting the Police to rehabilitate their barracks.

He said the gesture would motivate the Police to put in their best to maintain law, peace and order needed for the development of the District.
