The exercise, among other things, was geared towards boosting security in the city and ensuring sanity and orderliness on the roads in the boisterous city.
The police’s arrest of the motorbikes and tricycles, was to prevent thugs from disrupting the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.
Addressing the media, DSP Charles Ahiamele, the Deputy Ashanti Regional MTTD Commander, said the exercise was taking place across the region, concurrently.
He said improper documentation, fake insurance, riders not wearing helmet and fake number plates, were some of the offenses liable for arrest.
DSP Ahiamele stated that the MTTD would sustain the exercise so as to ensure that there is total sanity and orderliness on the roads in the city.
On his part, DCOP Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, stated categorically that nobody is above the law in the region.
