Police arrest suspected murderer

Sunyani, Oct. 29, GNA - The Police at Bechem on Tuesday nabbed Kwame Nong Dagarti, the 20-year-old suspected murderer of five-year-old Kwame Addo of Dwofo, near Bechem in the Tano District of Brong-Ahafo. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Adams, Tano district Police Commander told newsmen in Sunyani on Wednesday that the suspect was arrested following an intensive search by the police. The village of Dwofo was thrown into a state of confusion when the mutilated body of Addo was found at the outskirts of the village on Wednesday, October 22 with his throat slashed and one of his right hand fingers was cut and blood drained from the body.

The Police Commander added that police investigations led to the arrest of Nong Dagarti at Derma.

ASP Adams said in his statement to the police, the suspected murderer claimed that he was hired by somebody at Agogo in the Asante-Akim District to bring some human parts for a fee of two million cedis, but when he succeeded and went to Agogo with the parts, he met the absence of the so-called "agent".

He gave the assurance that the police would continue investigations to apprehend all those behind the heinous crime.

Addo was said to have gone out to play with his friend, Kwame Zanuyera, in the morning at the village and while playing Nong Dagarti lured him into a nearby bush and was never seen again till a search party found his body.
