Deputy Commissioner of Police Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Commander, has said police personnel should not be intimidated and act firmly to enforce the law to give the population adequate security cover.
He said they should make sure that they get right with the law and avoid professional misconduct.
Speaking at a social event, popularly referred to as WASSA, held by the Regional Command for officers and men of the service in Kumasi, DCOP Boakye said police personnel should be fair and even-handed in the performance of their duties, resist any temptation to be influenced by politics, ethnicity or religion.
He said those who maintained high standard of professionalism would always have the strong backing of the Police Administration.
DCOP Boakye said the police were determined to go after criminals to aid the law abiding to go about their businesses without fear.
Mr. Eric Opoku, the acting Regional Minister, praised the police for the good job they were doing to reduce crime to bring calm to the region and told them to do away with complacency and continue to work hard with passion and dedication to keep the peace and security.
Inspector Godwin Atsu Ahianyo of the Regional Police Public Affairs Unit was adjudged the overall best worker and for his prize, he received a home theatre and a citation.
