Police tackle suspected criminals in Ho

Ho, Dec 24, GNA- A total of 12 suspected criminals have been rounded up by the Police in Ho on Tuesday as part of its operations to ensure a crime free festivities in the municipality and the Volta region as a whole. One locally made pistol with five live cartridges, one dagger, two cutlasses and three knives were retrieved from their hideouts. A press release, issued by the Police said, one Yamaha motor bike, a 14 inch television set, two DVD players, seven mobile phone chargers, three mobile phones, one camera, four sports bags and a quantity of dried leaves, suspected to be Indian hemp, were also retrieved. It said an Urvan Bus with registration number GE 2475 X was also accosted in the main business centre of the municipality, discharging bags of charcoal in which nine bund les of compressed dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp were concealed. The owner of the goods escaped but Eric Sampene, the driver, is helping the Police in investigations. "We are up to the task. This is just the beginning" the release said. The Volta Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr David Ampaah-Benin, told the GNA that the Police Command has laid out, an elaborate operational strategies, to counter criminals, who might contemplate making the region their prey, during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
