The Special Adviser to the President on Health, Dr. Nsiah Asare, has said that President Akufo Addo’s healthcare reform agenda prioritizes Universal Health Coverage and Agenda 111.

Dr Nsiah made this known when stakeholders, including, development partners, Civil Society Organizations, MMCES, and the media, had a health policy dialogue at Koforidua town hall.

Nsiah noted that the NPP’s blueprint on health, which he presented during his electioneering campaigns, has been implemented.

“The President’s objective was to bridge the divide between the underprivileged and accessing quality healthcare by providing financial security,” he said.

Dr Anthony Nsiah-Asare, added that the government is working to strengthen the country’s health system to improve accessibility and quality healthcare delivery across the country.

He said the government has expanded infrastructure by putting up new health facilities such as the agenda 111 Health Projects while providing specialized and sub-specialized training for health personnel to take up healthcare delivery challenges at the regional and district hospitals.

Speaking at the townhall meeting in Koforidua, he said most of the agenda 111 Projects have been completed and operations have started, adding that 18 new district hospitals in the country would soon be added.

Dr. Nsiah Asare, who was a former Chief Executive for KATH, said that Ghana could now boast of several competent consultants’ hub of drones manufacturing in the near future in West Africa, whilst specialists in the country are gradually positioning themselves as a result of NPP’s good governance as users of first-class public health facility in the country.

He said specialist hospitals in the USA, and other advanced countries, were coming on board to help with modern equipment and training for this purpose.

Dr Nsiah-Asare called for continued support for the government to provide the needed quality healthcare services for the people in the country.
