Potable Water for Tamso Green Compound

Wassa-Akyempim (W/R) May 19, GNA - The people of Tamso Green Compound, popularly known as "AKAFO" Bungalow, have constructed pipe borne water facility at five million cedis as a solution to the perennial water shortage in the area.

The amount was realised from special levies of 50,000 cedis and 200,000 cedis imposed on the inhabitants by Mr Francis Kojo Ayisi, assembly member for the area.

Mr Ayisi made a personal contribution of one million cedis. He told the Ghana News Agency that some members of the community had resorted to using unsafe sources of water due to water shortage in the area and that the decision to construct the facility was to forestall the outbreak of water borne disease. The assembly member commended Nana Atiah I, chief of the town, the unit committee members and other individuals who contributed towards the project.

He urged the people to keep the surroundings of the facility clean at all times.

Mr Ayisi called on the assembly to support assembly members in their development agenda for their communities so as to make them effective and more responsive to the electorates. He urged chiefs to vote a percentage of their royalties for the provision of some basic infrastructure that would improve the living conditions of their subjects.

He commended the government for the commencement of work on the Tarkwa-Apemenim road and urged communities living along the road, to cooperate with the contractor and the workers to ensure that the project continued smoothly.
