Prepare students well for BECE- Educationist

Madam Phillipa Banson, Nkoranza Municipal Director of Education has urged heads of Junior High Schools (JHS) in the Municipality to prepare their final year students adequately towards the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

She commended the Nkoranza Municipal Assembly and Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South Constituency for financing a mock examination for the schools, which recorded 91.26 per cent output in performance.

Madam Banson made the call at a meeting with Heads of Basic Schools in the Municipality at Nkoranza.

She said they must improve on last year’s performance, and stressed the need for parents and guardians to ensure their children and wards study well and prepare for the exams in three weeks time.

Madam Banson appealed to head teachers to be fair and firm in dealing with their teachers to enable them to work hard and improve education in the area.

Mr Ebenezer Asare-Baah, Nkoranza Municipal Secretary of GNAT stressed the need for teachers to live above reproach since they were role models.

He advised teachers to eschew negative practices and attitudes such as absenteeism, lateness and drunkenness to enable them to promote discipline in schools.

Mr Asare-Baah said the leadership of GNAT and other associations were negotiating with the government to improve their conditions of service and urged the teachers to exercise restraint and have confidence in their leaders to work hard to promote their welfare.
