Ashaiman, April 25, GNA- Members of the newly created Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, on Thursday unanimously confirmed the President's nominee, Mr Albert Boakye Otchere as the Assembly's Municipal Chief Executive.
Mr Otchere, a 51-year-old Revenue Mobilization Officer, who has served on several sub-committees of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly since 1998, received the approval in the first round of polls as all the 15 members voted in his favour.
Mr Emmanuel Neequaye Djanie, 46, assembly member, was also elected as the Assembly's Presiding Member after winning 13 votes out of the 15 cast in a second round.
Mr Djanie could not obtain the required two-thirds votes in the first round as he had 11 votes while Mr Joseph Ofosu Siaw and Mr Thomas Atongo had three votes and one vote respectively.
Justice Nana Tawiah Gyamera of the Tema High Court 'B,' swore the two mew officers into office after the declaration of the result by Mr Michael Boadu, Tema Electoral Officer.
Mr Otchere and Mr Djanie thanked the Assembly members for the confidence reposed in them and urged the people to cooperate with the members for the development of the area. Sheikh I.C. Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister, in a speech on his behalf, advised the members to work diligently to bring rapid development to the municipality.
