Jacobu (Ash), July 18, GNA - Mr Christian Daves Ahoma, Presiding Member of the newly created Amansie Central District Assembly, has appealed to the Government to tar some of the roads in the area to facilitate the growth and development of the District. "There is no single road that is tarred in the new District", Mr Ahoma told the Ghana News Agency at Jacobu.
He said the Assembly's aim was to get the Asikasu Junction to Jacobu and Afoako Junction to Jacobu roads tarred as the immediate priority.
Mr Ahoma said it was his wish to at least get all the roads leading to Jacobu tarred.
The Presiding Member expressed concern about the deplorable state of most schools, which had contributed to low academic standards in the District.
He announced that the Assembly had plans to rehabilitate some of the schools, adding, "at least we have Asikasu and Aboabo-Odumto in our development plan for this year".
Mr Ahoma said the Assembly had unity as its asset for accelerated development but observed that conflicts amongst the traditional leaders would affect the forward march of the assembly. He, therefore, appealed to the chiefs to avoid disputes and team up with the Assembly to develop the District.
He encouraged the Assembly's staffs to work with devotion, adding; "I know as a new District, they will have problems including transport and accommodation and we sympathise with them, but they should try and put up their best to develop the area".
