Nkoranza (B/A), May 6, GNA- Mr Kwabena Agyeman-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education has commended the Community School Alliances (CSA) project of the Quality Improvement in Primary Schools (QUPS) programme.
He said the project as improved standard of education in the Country.
The QUIPS/CSA project is a United States Agency for International Development (USAID) sponsored programme, which is aimed at offering assistance to the Government of Ghana to provide quality education for children in basic schools.
Mr Agyeman-Badu was speaking at a meeting with members of CSA at Nkoranza on Friday.
The meeting aimed at how best the Nkoranza District Education Directorate could sustain the best practices in teaching in the district.
Under the USAID/QUIPS programme, three schools in the district have been provided with six classroom blocks each to enhance the education of the children in those communities.
Mrs Elizabeth Opoku-Darko, CSA Field Officer announced that there were plans for a second project by QUIPS/CSA and that districts that would continue with their good practices might benefit from the project. She praised the District Education Directorate for their good plans to continue with the QUIPS/CSA activities and said Nkoranza has been the first out of the 10 other districts she had visited.
She stressed the need for all communities benefiting from such programmes not to relent in their efforts in supporting the schools in order that the seven-year service carried out by QUIPS/CSA would not be in vain.
The Nkoranza District Chief Executive Mr Kwame Ampofo-Twumasi has given an assurance that the District Assembly would also offer the needed assistance to ensure the sustainability of the USAID QUIPS/CSA programmes.
