Kumasi, Mar. 4, GNA - More than 20 people were rendered homeless in three communities in the Tain District of Brong-Ahafo Region following a severe rainstorm in the area on Thursday but there were no casualties. The communities are Nsawkaw, the district capital, Nkonakwaagye and Nsuhunu.
At Nsawkaw, 10 houses had their roofs either completely or partially ripped off, while six houses each were also affected at Nkonakwaagye and Nsuhunu.
Mr. Victor Donkor, Assembly member for Nkonakwaagya, said the affected people were putting up with friends and feared that the conditions of the displaced people would be worsened now that the rains have started.
He appealed to the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) religious organizations philanthropists to come to the aid of the victims. Mr. Donkor renewed the appeal for people to plant trees to serve as wind brakes.
