The Mayor of Kumasi Kojo Bonsu has stated that the redevelopment of the Kumasi Central Market and the construction of the Rattray Park are two of his most important achievements since he assumed office in 2013.
“The most important one is the Kumasi Central market. It was a difficult thing but we have pulled it through and also the Rattray Park that everybody talks about and everybody loves,” Mr. Bonsu told host of Starr Chat Bola Ray Wednesday from Ultimate 106.9 FM in Kumasi.
According to the mayor, who faced severe opposition in the re-construction of the Central market said he is satisfied with the achievements he has chalked in less than three years in the Garden City.
Mr. Bonsu also revealed that he is constructing six different markets at the same time adding that he is overwhelmed by the progress of work done on all the markets.
The recreational facility called ‘The Rattray Park” is aimed at giving residents a one-stop recreation facility and also promote a healthy lifestyle.
The 42,000 square-meter Rattray Park has an acoustic dancing fountain; the first of its kind in Ghana.
It can also boast of a six square-meter multimedia controlled fountain, children’s playground, a golf cart, wi-fi internet connectivity, an open robust gym and a cafeteria among others.
