Rededicate yourselves to the cause of TDC

Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, on Thursday urged workers of the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) to rededicate themselves to the corporation’s cause for their mutual benefit and that of the nation.

Addressing a staff durbar during his maiden visit to the corporation as the sector Minister, Mr Mensah remarked: “Let us see ourselves as people playing in one team, by playing our roles effectively for the benefit of the TDC.”

He expressed concern about the illegal activities of land-guards and said everything possible must be done to discourage them from operating.

Mr Mensah urged developers to endeavour to follow lay down rules and regulations before putting up structures and said it was within the purview of the law for TDC Taskforce to pull down illegal structures in the Metropolis.

Mr Joe Abbey, Managing Director of TDC, said under its five-year corporate plan, the corporation was determined to accomplish its core mandate of providing affordable houses for majority of the people.

By so doing, he said, TDC would continue to be relevant in the years ahead.

In response to a question during an open forum, the Minister assured workers of the corporation of management’s determination to provide them with decent accommodation to enable them give off their best.

On the overlapping functions of TDC and the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, he said, efforts would be made to spell out the core functions of the two organisations in order to avoid future clashes between their taskforces.

Accompanied by the Managing Director and some members of management of the corporation, Mr Mensah rounded off his visit with a tour to the TDC’s affordable housing project at Kpone.**
