Residents appeal to assembly to clear weeds along road

Residents of Upper Manya Krobo District who reside along the Koforidua to Asesewa road have appealed to the District Assembly to clear the weeds around the main road.

They said though some portions of the road are cleared periodically a long stretch of the roadside is left bushy which sometimes made the road to be narrow.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Media Auditing and Tracking of Development projects team , Mr Tetteh Opata, a farmer and a resident of Otrokper, said often during overtaking, pedestrians were forced into the bush to avoid being knock down.

Mr Teye Nartey, a resident of Asesewa and a driver who plies the road, said almost every stretch of the road was bushy which sometimes prevented drivers from seeing ahead of them especially in curves.

Mr Lawrence Djaba said taking into account the curvy nature of the road and its hilliness, the bush along the road made it dangerous for driving especially in the night.

The Media Auditing team observed that, though some parts of the road had been cleared, greater part is yet to be cleared.

The GNA, STAR-Ghana Media Auditing and Tracking of Development Projects, is an initiative launched to promote transparence, social accountability, participatory democracy and good governance.
