Pokuase (GA/R), Aug 15, GNA - The Reverend Emmanuel Victor Adjei-Wiredu of the Hour of Deliverance Ministry, Pokuase, has donated a plot of land to the Ga District Area Centre for Ecumenism (GDACE) for the construction of a Vocational Training Institute. Nii Tettey Okpe II, Amamole Mantse in the Ga District of the Greater Accra Region, also donated a plot of land for the establishment of a secretariat for the GDACE.
The donations were made on Sunday at an Ecumenical Service in honour of a 16 member-delegation of the Grand Rapid Sister City Committee (GRSCC) from Michigan, United States. The service formed part of the activities marking the 10th Anniversary of the friendship between the Ga District Assembly and the 1GRSCC, which has resulted in a number of development projects in the district.
Rev Wiredu expressed the hope that the Vocational Institute would help the youth in the area to acquire skills to make a living. The leader of the delegation, Reverend George Heartwell, who is also the Mayor of Grand Rapids, pledged 1,250,000 US Dollars in support of the training centre.
He said GRSCC in conjunction with the District Assembly had planned a number of initiatives including a programme to fight the spread and to create awareness about HIV/AIDS in the district
