Right to Play donates dual desks to Googo Primary School

Right To Play Ghana on Thursday donated 66 dual desks valued at GH¢5, 700 to the Googo Primary School in the Bawku West District.

Speaking at the function, the Project Manager of Right To Play in-charge of northern Ghana, Mr. Ben K. Wumbla, said the donation followed the visit of his outfit’s partner, Action Child Mobilization, a child development NGO, to the school and saw that pupils in primary one were lying on their stomachs to write and learn.

He said the Right To Play programs in schools over the years had contributed a lot to the educational and social development of children throughout its operational areas.

Mr. Wumbla said most of the plays and games introduced by Right To Play built the confidence of school children to speak in public and also increase the concentration of the children.

He appealed to parents in the three northern regions to stop disallowing the girl–child from participating in Right To Play Programs since it was a violation against their right and might also affect their growth and development.

The Head teacher of the School, Mr. Michael Ayinga, said the desks would cater for both primary one and two and said the situation where children in the school were lying on their stomachs to learn and study would be a thing of the past.

Master Avoka Paul, the School Prefect, commended Right To Play and Action Child Mobilization, for the support and said in the past the donation of volley balls, metal goal posts and books by Right To Play had helped the school a lot.

He appealed to Right To Play to help the school with a library. **
