About 16 kilometres of town roads in the Hohoe Municipality in the Volta Region including an eight kilometre road from Fodome Ahor to Gbledi-Chebi and Gbogame are to see major facelift.
The town roads include; Mama Awornyo link, Bungalow road, Boondocks road, Alabato junction-market road, Pacific junction- Blave road, Post Office - Gboxome road, Zongo-Gbi Bla road and Hohoe Picnic road.
Mr John Peter Amewu, Minister for Energy, Wednesday toured the roads in the Municipality and said there was the need to speed up work on the roads abandoned for years.
He said a directive from the Minister for Roads and Highways had been given for work to start on the roads and assured that the roads would be fixed
Togbega Homatekpor V, Paramount Chief of Gbledi Traditional Area, said the bad nature of the Fodome-Ahor to Gbledi had been affecting economic activities and expressed gratitude to the Minister.
Mr Osman Nasiru, a resident at Hohoe Picnic Road, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the roads had been left unattended to for long and prayed they were fixed on time.
Mr Amewu who is contesting the parliamentary seat in the Hohoe Constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), said he intended to push the Constituency in a different direction by providing jobs for the youth and enhancing the livelihood of the constituents devoid of political affiliation.
The Energy Minister was accompanied on the tour by some executives and members of the Hohoe Constituency NPP, engineers from the Ghana Highways Authority and the Ministry of Roads and Highways and officials of the construction firm, First Sky Group.
