The Family of a victim in last Monday’s armed robbery attack at Walewale, has petitioned the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area to investigate the incident to bring perpetrators to book.
The September 18, attack led to the death of one and injuries to two others.
A copy of the petition by the Bishanaayiri Family of Tamplungu signed by its Head, Bishanaaba and made available to the GNA, demanded that the DCE of the West Mamprusi District, who is also Chairman of the District Security Committee, take steps to bring justice to the deceased.
The petition recounted the incident saying on Monday, September 18, 2017 around 19:00 hours, armed robbers attacked a mobile money vendor at Walewale and whiles escaping, they began to shoot sporadically and in the process shot Mr Yakubu Razak in the chest killing him on the spot.
It said “On that faithful day, Mr Razak went to the market centre to buy medication from a pharmaceutical shop close to what has now become the crime scene. After buying his medications, he was along the road, on a bicycle towards the family house when he was shot.”
Mr Razak, until his death, was a staff of Ghana Cocoa Board in the Central Region, and he returned home on leave to visit his family at Walewale.
The petition listed three other robbery cases within and outside the Walewale township, which happened between September, 2016 and July, 2017 saying it has caused fear among residents.
It served notice that “we intend to pursue this issue to the national level and to its logical conclusion.”
