Ananekrom (Ash), March 4, GNA - A senior banker said rural banks have a duty to assist mop up excess liquidity and to provide the necessary financial intervention to boost rural economies. Mr Johnny Archibrah, the Senior Manager of the Asante-Akyem Rural Bank, who said this, announced that the bank was encouraging the people of the Agogo in the Afram Plains, who are predominantly farmers to save with the bank.
He was addressing a meeting organised for the bank and the chiefs and people of Ananekrom in the Afram Plains.
Mr Arcibrah said the financial institution would give credit facilities to farmers and traders to expand their activities adding that the bank has instituted the "Adwadifuor Nkosuo" (micro finance loans), "Abusuapanin Anidasuo" (funeral loan) and 'susu' savings and loans to assist the people.
Mr Wahab Bonti, the assembly member for the area, commended the bank for its initiatives aimed at facilitating the economic activities of the people.
