Sekondi Dec.9 - GNA - The Shama-Ahanta East Metropolitan Assembly (SAEMA) has completed six HIPC projects at a total cost of 877,616,695 cedis, Nana Yaw Boateng, the Metropolitan Works Engineer, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sekondi on Friday.
Speaking in an interview, he said the projects were two 16-seater aqua privy places of convenience at Supomu-Dunkwa and Adakope, 16-seater water closest place of convenience at the Ghana Secondary Technical School, two-unit teachers accommodation at Akromakrom and two refuse dumps at Nkotompo and Adiembra.
Nana Boateng said construction of 16 other HIPC projects were going on in the Metropolis.
These included construction of nurse's quarters and Doctors bungalow at the Takoradi Hospital, Metropolitan Health Administration block at Sekondi and 3-unit classroom block with library, office and storeroom at Anwona Beach, he said.
Others included construction of a Doctor's bungalow at Essikado Hospital, six-unit classroom block at Beposo, 16-seater aqua privy toilet at Tanokrom and 3-unit classroom block at Whindo.
Nana Boateng said the Assembly had awarded on contract seven HIPC projects at Takoradi, Apremdo, Kofi Essuonkrom, Essaman, New Takoradi, Anto and Bakaekyir.
He said projects to be undertaken under the contracts included construction of aqua privy public places of convenience and educational projects. Dec. 10 04
