The Chiefs, Elders, Queen Mothers and people of Twafo Divisional Council of Saltpond-Bakado of Nkusukum Traditional area in the Central Region will climax the Ayerye festival on 30th November to 3rd December.
In a letter addressed, it said the Chiefs and Elders of Twafoman of Nkusukum Traditional area created the Saltpond-Bakado Development Committee (SABADECOM) under the able leadership of Nana Gyan Ankwanda IV, the Akyenfo-Bakadohen and Twafohen of Nkusukum Traditional Council to brainstorm, plan and bring to fruition all developmental activities of Saltpond-Bakado.
The letter continued that, it was also worthy to note that Saltpond happened to be the place where Ghana had the formation of its first organized political parties (i.e UGCC and CPP). A place where Ghana had its first tarred street with bitumen and first Seaport and also a place where Ghana’s first President Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah began his political career.
In an interview with the Event Organizer of SABADECOM, Mr. Paa Kwesi, he said the festival is celebrated to bring developmental projects to the District in creating job opportunities for the youth that forms the greater population in Ghana.
He said the traditional leaders would take this opportunity to create an educational endowment fund, establish a modern Assembly Hall for the district.
He said the festival will bring to together sons and daughters of the land and very distinguished guests will also be there to grace the occasion, which will include the Vice President of Ghana, Mr John Dramani Mahama, Former Prez J.A Kufour, Nana Akufo Addo, the Central Regional Minister, Ama Benyiwa Doe, Ministers of State and the MP of the area, Dr Aquinas Quansah, Former MP Mr Asamoah Boateng, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, Traditional leaders and many distinguished guests.
The theme for the festival is christened, “Together We Can”.
The objective of the Ayerye festival is to bring all the citizens and well-wishers of Saltpond-Bakado together. The Ayerye will be used to promote and highlight all the good things about Saltpond and to revive and rekindle the soul and spirit of Saltpond-Bakado.
