Save the youth from HIV/AIDS

Accra, August 14, GNA- Mr Francis Asamoah Tuffuor, Public Relation Officer of the St Paul Catholic Youth Organisation (CYO) on Saturday said the youth must be saved from the HIV/AIDS.

This is because the youth provide the manpower needs of the nation. He said it was time for all stakeholders involved in the fight against the HIV/AIDS to intensify their efforts to ensure that the lives of the youth were salvaged.

Mr Tuffuor was speaking after an HIV/AIDS walk, organized by members of the Kpehe St Paul CYO in Accra.

He noted that there would be no meaningful development without the total contribution of the youth who form the active working force. The walk had the theme: " Rise up to face the challenges of the HIV/AIDS today" and it was to sensitize the public on the alarming rate of the disease with the youth.

He urged the youth to desist from engaging in illicit sex to avoid contracting the deadly HIV/AIDS disease.

Mr Tuffuor appealed to individuals to show compassion to people living with AIDS by providing them with their basic needs. The CYO members carried placards some of which read, "abstain from premarital sex", "say no to sex", "be wise and live long", and "remain faithful to your partner".
