The Second Lady, Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur,on Tuesday August 9thJune donated assorted items to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi Takoradi, in line with her commitment to improve health service delivery across the country.
The assorted items included schools bags with learning tools and assorted fruits for children on admission at the neonatal intensive unit of the hospital and the staff of the hospital.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur, commended the hospital for the role they are playing together with their commitment to managing childhood illnesses . The Second Lady who was conducted round by the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Paul Ntodi and interacted with some of the children on admission at the hospital and gave them school bags, pencils, books, toys and wished them a speedy recovery.
The Second Lady Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur, first of all congratulated the staff of the hospital for the good work that they are doing for the country,
She said her aim is to see to it that children at such places are treated with care because they are the most precious priority as parents, so decided as a matter of priority visit the children in particular because children are the future leaders and is someone who believes in growing with the young generation in the area of health care delivery.
Receiving the donation the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Paul Ntodi, said he was full of gratitude to the Second Lady, Mrs. Matilda Amissah Arthur, especially her work in the area of helping the needy and of social services in the country and called on other people to emulate her work.
Dr. Paul Ntodi, Medical Director of the Hospital said the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital is in dire need of medical equipment to enable the hospital to function effectively as the only referral hospital serving the Western Region.
And that the hospital that the lack of vital equipment and instruments was affecting quality healthcare delivery and praised the doctors and nurses for their commitment and dedication that had enabled them to brace the challenges.
He said the hospital had not seen any major maintenance since its establishment and that they also needed more Oxygen for the survival of patients, so they hope that government would come to their aid.
Earlier on the Second Lady had paid a visit to Ada Kope a suburb in Takoradi to also donate bales of clothing for women and children in the community.
The Second Lady before the donation called on the chief of Ada Kope-Torgbui David Kluvia 11 and his elders to interact with them and know some of the challenges that they are facing in the community.
The Chief of the area thanked the Second Lady for her kind gesture to his people and put across some of their grievances in the community was facing,thus school, roads and Electricity, which the Deputy regional Minister promised to tackle because it was an ongoing process and that it on course, so very soon things would take shape
The Second Lady also took the opportunity to meet the women in the community and interacted with them to make good use of the clothing that she’s brought to them.
