Secretaries asked to help GHS attain goals

Koforidua, Aug. 26, GNA- The Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Mr Isaac Yaw Kyere, has advised secretaries of the Service to discharge their duties effectively to promote the goals of its healthcare delivery.

He condemned the tendency by secretaries to expect to be bribed or induced before they perform their official duties for which the Service employed them.

Mr Kyere, who gave the advice at the inauguration of the Eastern Regional GHS Secretaries and Typist Association, urged the members to abide by the code of ethics of the Service and the association. The Regional Director of Health Services, Dr Ebenezer Appiah-Denkyira in his inaugural address, noted that the branch association was the first to be formed in the country and counted it as part of the region's achievement in the GHS.

He charged them to endeavour to contribute their quota to the Service in their efforts to improve upon the healthcare delivery in the country through the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). The president of the association, Ms Edith Nico-Annan, in her welcoming address said the objective of the association was to build the capacity of the rank and file of the members through continuous education to provide satisfactory services.

She called on the members to dedicate themselves to their responsibilities and work hard so that the region could achieve the goals set for the GHS and pledged the association's commitment towards ensuring quality services for all clients of the Service.
