Techiman came to a standstill on Saturday, May 11, as Seidu Rafiwu made a grand entry with his team after his Guinness World Record walk-a-thon attempt.

The young man, who hails from Techiman in the Bono East Region of Ghana, began a walking marathon journey from Techiman to Accra on Friday, April 26, at exactly 9 a.m., in a quest to break the infamous Guinness World Record for the farthest walking marathon in 24 hours.

According to Seidu Rafiwu, the several challenges he faced while organizing and embarking on this arduous journey could not preclude his goal of trekking from Techiman to Accra.

During his media tour post-walking marathon, which ended at Independence Square in Accra, Ghana, on April 30, 2024, at 10 a.m., he divulged that he isn't only aiming at breaking the Guinness World Record but also wants to capitalize on the opportunity to promote peace ahead of the forthcoming December 7 polls in Ghana.

Seidu Rafiwu received a warm welcome in Techiman upon his arrival on Saturday, as chiefs, dignitaries, and the entire city congratulated him on his accomplishments.

He stopped by the palace of Hansua near Techiman to receive blessings while journeying to Techiman.

Following Seidu's arrival, a grand durbar was held by the Muslim community in Techiman to honour the young man for living an exemplary life for the youth in the Zongo community to emulate.
