Senfi embarks on four-year development plan

Senfi (Ash), April 11, GNA - The chiefs and people of Senfi in the Amansie East District have drawn up a four-year development plan at a cost of 850 million cedis.

The projects to be undertaken during the period include the extension of electricity to new sites in the township and the rehabilitation of an old community centre. Elder Nkrumah Boateng, chairman of the town's Unit Committee, who announced this during the annual general meeting to discuss the development of the town on Tuesday, said the proposed community centre would have a guesthouse and conference hall.

The meeting decided that special levies of 100,000 cedis a male resident and 50,000 cedis a female resident should be paid within the period while non-resident males and females would pay 200,000 and 100,000 cedis respectively.

The contributions from the chiefs and elders was left to them to decide and communicate to the community on Sunday when a special fund-raising harvest would be held to raise funds in support of the plan.

Mrs Agatha Nuako-Boateng, Assemblywoman for Senfi, urged those who qualified to register to do so when the voters' register opened on April 21. Mrs Nuako-Boateng, who later conducted newsmen round a six-acre community farm, said the Amansie East District Assembly had rehabilitated two KVIP toilets and the Police Station in the town. She said plans were far advanced for the rehabilitation of the road from Senfi to Adjamasu and appealed for their support to open up the area. Nana Otaa Ababio, Adumasa Senfi Krontihene, appealed to the people to take active interest in the development activities of the town. 11 April 06
