Seven die on the spot in car accident at Gomoa-Ankamu

Gomoa-Ankamu (C/R), June 7, GNA - Seven people died on the spot and at least 10 others received various degrees of injuries when a City Express Ford bus on which they travelling to Accra rammed into a stationery articulator truck at Gomoa-Ankamu on Monday.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Asare Baffour, Apam District Police Commander, told newsmen at Gomoa-Ankamu that the articulator truck with registration number AS 8599 R, had parked by the shoulders of the road when the bus with registration number WR 598 R, from Takoradi run into it, killing seven passengers including the driver and a woman.

ASP Baffour said the police were still investigating the cause of the accident and were looking for the driver of the articulator. The bodies and the injured were conveyed to the Apam Catholic and Winneba Government Hospitals.

ASP Baffour recalled that on May 1, this year, eight people died on the spot in a car crash on the same stretch of the road. He therefore urged drivers plying on the Mankessim-Winneba Junction road to be extra careful and avoid speeding to save lives.
