Bolgatanga, Dec 23, GNA - Single Mothers Association (SMA), a union of single mothers were proud exhibitors of straw products at the on-going mini fair and exhibition in Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional capital.
The products included baskets in different models and shapes, key holders, fruit trays, toys, breadbaskets, and soap dishes that attracted attention at the fair.
The Coordinator of the Association, Madam Stella Abagre, told the Ghana News Agency that the products were handiworks of women, who, for their lifetime have been the sole breadwinners of their families. She said the cardinal objective of the association is to impart skills to members to ensure that their standard of living is improved as well as empower them to cater for the educational needs of their children.
Madam Abagre said the association has the ability to produce quality straw products and that it needs local and international partners to help provide market for their products.
She said the call for people to partner the association is more of a humanitarian gesture than just business transaction.
"By buying our products you do service to mankind by improving the lives of children whose only parents are their mothers."
