Sister City donates sun ovens to schools in Nsawam

Nsawam (E/R), March 13, GNA - Madam Judy Gaidi of the Lansing Regional Sister Cities Commission, Michigan in the USA, at the weekend advised directors and proprietors of secondary schools in the country to practise the usage of solar ovens. Madam Gaidi said this, when addressing students of two schools at Nsawam and demonstrated the using of sun energy to cook their foods. She said the usage of sun energy would save money, since the price of liquid gas had gone up, as well as charcoal. It would also save forest of trees to protect and beautify the environment, as well as provide shades for streams and rivers from drying during the dry seasons. The schools are Prince Boateng Memorial and Saint Martin's Secondary School.

A team from Sun Ovens International, Ron Pickings, of Accra also explained and demonstrated the benefits of using the sun energy to save trees for technical purposes. Mr William Neequaye, assembly member of Zabu Zongo of the Akuapem South, commended Madam Judy Gaidi and the team from Sun Oven's International and urged the beneficiary schools to put whatever they learnt to practice. Mr Neequaye presented 5 boxes each of the Sun Ovens, valued at 20 million cedis on behalf of Madam Judy Gaidi to the two schools.
