SmockyWorld together with its partners, over last weekend, fed thousands of children made up of three orphanages and street children at the Tamale Jubilee Park, as part of efforts to give back to society.

The event which was dubbed SmockyWorld Streetkid project was initially aimed at feeding a total of 500 street children but recorded high numbers of over a thousand children.

Street children were gathered through various forms of advertisements and treated to sumptuous meals, drinks, sweets and other goodies including music, Trampoline, Bouncing Castle among other fun activities to begin the year with.

Even though the festive season remains time for families to come together and mark the birth of Jesus and the end of the year through feasting and merrymaking, many find themselves isolated because they have neither homes nor available families to share such moments with.

In a brief interview with the brain behind the StreetKid Project is the Founder of SmockyWorld, a fashion brand in Ghana, Mrs Gertrude Kunde Kwallinjam promised to make it a yearly affair and increase the numbers to cover more children in future.

She called on philanthropists to find interest in helping street children who are vulnerable and couldn’t make decisions by themselves, through no fault of theirs.

When asked to quantify the event monetary wise, Mrs Kwallinjam noted that the fun-filled event is valueless as over 44partners supporters in various forms, both in kind and in cash, to make the day a memorable one.

She underscored the need for more donations to be coming in order to make it a yearly surprise to all street kids in the Tamale metropolis.

Mrs Gertrude Kwallinjam Kunde used the opportunity to call on government to initiate programs and policies that cater for street children because every child deserved an opportunity to make it in life and those opportunities do not exist on the streets. She intimated that by looking on and seeing potentially great future leaders destroyed on the street, we are endorsing societal misfits who will come back to haunt us in future.

She thanked the over 44 partners for their selfless contributions in various forms towards the program and prayed to God to bless them so that they can give even more in future when called upon.
