Mrs Beatrice Aduo Addae, La Dadekotopon Municipal Director of Education, has called on parents to invest in the education of their children.
She said investing in education was a lucrative venture, and that, every parent should ensure that they give their wards a good education to secure their future.
Mrs Addae made the call at the 46th Commendation, Graduation and Achiever’s Day celebrations of St. Thomas International School at La in Accra.
It was on the theme ‘Educational Seed You sow in your Child is what you reap.’
Mrs Addae regretted that some parents sometimes neglect their responsibilities such as paying their children’s school fees and providing them with the basic needs for school.
The Municipal Director of Education urged teachers to desist from all forms of negative tendencies that may tarnish the image of the teaching profession.
She said acts such as absenteeism, alcoholism and lateness to school were some of the factors that contributed to low standards of education.
The Municipal Director of Education tasked the students to take their studies seriously and shy away from examination malpractices, which she said, could have dire consequences for them.
Mrs Addae commended the school authorities for turning out many graduates some of whom are now occupying key positions in government and other establishments.
Mr Richard Kwesi Aggrey, Proprietor of the school said sowing a seed in a child’s education was a worthy cause, and that, no country can develop without education, adding that, “the investment you make today is what you are going to reap in the near future.”
Mr Aggrey expressed the hope that the school would continue to offer excellent tuition and good moral upbringing at all times.
