Koforidua, July 28, GNA – The Medical staff of the Koforidua Regional Hospital have appealed to the New Juaben Municipal Assembly to complete the Koforidua Polyclinic to help reduce the daily high pressures on the Out-Patients Department of the hospital(OPD).
The staff said such a development would help reduce the tension that sometimes developed at the OPD and the unnecessary pressure on them.
At a mid-year review meeting of the hospital at Koforidua on Wednesday the staff said the constant overcrowding of the hospital was a great source of concern.
The Deputy Coordinating Director of the New Juaben Municipal Assembly, Mr Majeed Ayariga, commended the hospital in its efforts to decongest the OPD.
He said the Assembly had spent more than GHc 125,000 for the construction of the Koforidua Polyclinic, which was about 95 per cent complete.
Mr Ayariga said the Assembly had completed a CHIPS centre in Koforidua Ada Magazine and was in the process of completing another clinic at Oyoko while the Urban Road Engineer had been directed to help rehabilitate the roads at the hospital.
The Matron of the Hospital, Ms Linda Ayitey, said to help improve upon the client service, the hospital had introduced measures to re-orientate all new nurses there.
