Students receive help from Achease education endowment fund

Akyem Achiase, Dec. 13, GNA - Five university students from Akyem Achiase in the Birim South District were on Tuesday, presented with a cheque of 800,000 cedis each by the local educational endowment fund at a ceremony at Akyem Achiase. The beneficiary students included Miss Mary Tsibo, Mr Isaac K. Opoku, Mr Collins Agyei, Mr Isaac K. Owusu and Mr Frank Kwakye. Fourteen needy but brilliant basic school pupils were also provided with free school uniforms at the ceremony.

Presenting the cheques to the students, the chief of Akyem Achiase, Osabarima Gyenin Kenten, II, advised parents to attach importance to their children's education since education was the best legacy one could bequeath to his children. He stressed the need for parents to ensure that they provided their wards with the necessary learning aids, which would assist them in their studies. The chairman of the Achiase Educational Endowment Fund, Mr Paul Asiedu, announced that all the JSS in the area had been provided with electricity supply from the fund. He appealed for support from members of the community by donating generously to the fund to enable similar facilities to be extended to students in Teacher Training Colleges. Mr Aseidu commended Dr K. K. Manfo, a Deputy Inspector General of Police In-Charge of Operations, Mr Kwesi Amoah, an educationist as well as Akim Achiase citizens resident in Accra for their support to the fund.
