Sunyani Bishop asks youth to abstain from casual sex

Mim (B/A), Sept. 23, GNA - The Right Reverend Kwame Omane Achamfour, Sunyani Diocesan Bishop of the Methodist Church, has called on the youth to abstain from casual sex to avoid contracting HIV/AIDS. He stressed Christians could evade the pandemic by complying with the message from God on moral chastity and faithfulness to one's partner".

The Diocesan Bishop made the call at the opening of the 8th Biennial Conference of the Association of Methodist Choirs at Mim in the Asunafo District of Brong Ahafo.

The Conference was under the theme: "Who is a Chorister", and was attended by choristers from all 14 circuits under the Sunyani Diocese to deliberate on issues affecting the sustenance and growth of the Association.

Bishop Omane Achamfour reminded the Choristers on the need to compose and sing songs that had the potential to transform society. He deplored the spate of indecency that had permeated the music scene in the country and called on Parliament and the Musicians Association of Ghana (MUSIGA) to remove "the dark pages" of Ghana's music industry.

Mr Morrison Aidoo, National Chairman of the Association of Methodist Choirs assured the Bishop that the choristers were prepared to come out with more purposeful songs to positively impact on the nation's musical terrain.
