Sunyani May 30 GNA - Sunyani Polytechnic (S-Poly) on Monday presented eight trophies it won in the just ended Ghana Polytechnic Students Association Games held in Sunyani to the Regional Coordinating Council.
The trophies were for Men's soccer, Women's soccer, Best Player (Men's soccer), Best Player (Women's soccer), Goal King (Men's soccer), Goal King (Women's soccer), Table Tennis (Women) and Best Player (Women Table Tennis).
S-Poly also qualified to represent the country in the West Africa Polytechnic Games Association slated for August this year in Nigeria. Nana Kwadwo Seinti, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, who received the trophies on behalf of the Council commended the institution for its performance and efforts during the games.
He implored the students to study hard while exerting themselves in sports to achieve higher education.
The Regional Minister advised the students to be disciplined and not to allow "pleasant things of life that have the tendency to expose you to unnecessary dangers like HIV/AIDS to entice you". He later presented one million cedis to the school contingent to the games for their hard work and pledged to support them during their trip to Nigeria.
Mr. Samuel Annoh, Sports master of S. Poly thanked Nana Seinti for his encouraging words and pledged on behalf of the students to exhibit a sense of civility during their trip to Nigeria. 30 May 05
