Mr John Appiah, Brong Ahafo Regional Head of Ghana Telecommunication Company Limited, has advised customers to pay their bills on time to ensure that quality services are provided to the public. He gave the advice at a dinner organized by the company in Sunyani to brief journalists of its developments and future projections for customers in the region.
Mr Appiah said the company's inability to provide quality services was because customers failed to pay the huge amount they owed the company.''A lot of customers owe the company huge sums of money which is affecting our operation because it needs money to import facilities for good services.''
Mr Appiah said extensions on the Sunyani switch has been done to enable it to serve about 600 applicants whilst additional Direct Exchange Lines (DELS) have been reserved for the Baakoniaba area as Customers Access Network (CAN) is under construction.
Mr Boateng said an increase in the cell sites for the municipalities had also been proposed to make customers enjoy facilities at all places in the region. ''Pay phone situation has been improved tremendously in the region. Plans are far advanced to install CSM pay phones in towns without telephones facilities'', he said.
Mr Boateng said second cycle institutions and teacher training colleges would be provided with telecommunication facilities by 2005 to enable them to be hooked to the internet.
