Sunyani West: MCE, MP hands over sites for five projects

The Municipal Chief Executive of Sunyani West, Evans Kusi Boadum, and the Member of Parliament who also doubles as the Minister for Employment, Labour Relations, and Pensions, Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, have handed over five sites to RIF-CONNAC LTD for various projects in those communities.

Work is expected to commence soon after the handing over of land to the contractor.

The projects with funding from the Social Investment Fund (SIF) are expected to be completed in four months.

It includes; the construction of 1No. six (6) unit classroom (u) and 8-seater WC toilet block at Mantukwa, Construction of 1No. six (6) unit classroom block (u) and 8-seater WC toilet block at Kyem Amponsah, Fiapre, Construction of 1No. four (4) unit teacher’s quarters and a mechanized borehole at Baah Shed, Nsoatre, Construction of 1No. two (2) bed semi-detached nurses’ quarters at Boffourkrom and Construction of 1No. mass in situ concrete drain at Afrasum, Nsoatre.

At a separate gathering attended by the chiefs, assembly members, and people of the communities involved, the MCE expressed his gratitude to the Member of Parliament for his commitment towards the development of the area.

“What we are seeing today, was a result of his hard work since only 23 districts across the country are benefiting from the project,” he said.

Heinz Osei Karikari, SIF Zonal Coordinator said that funding for the projects is available so there is no cause for alarm.

He urged the people to cooperate with the contractor and other stakeholders of the project to ensure the smooth execution of the project.

He disclosed that, as part of the project, his outfit would also offer soft loans to the residents in the municipality with an interest rate of 12% which they would later brief members.

Addressing the people, the Member of Parliament, Ignatius-Baffour Awuah affirmed his commitment to the development of the area.

He urged the contractor to do well to complete the project on schedule while ensuring that they are of utmost quality.

He appealed to the people to continue having faith in him and renew his mandate and the NPP government come December 7, 2024.

The chiefs and people of the communities expressed their appreciation for siting the project in their communities.
